I'll play a solo organ concert to celebrate and re-dedicate the pipe organ at this historic church in Swedesburg, Iowa. Some of the pipes remain from the first iteration of this instrument, dedicated in 1928; some are new as of this year. The program will celebrate the heritage and the future of this community of voices, and the Swedish traditions that have been part of this church since its beginnings. Since my mom's side of the family is Swedish, I'm looking forward to reconnecting with my own heritage as well.

A talk by the organ builder will precede the concert at 1:30pm.

Planned repertoire includes:

BENEDETTO MARCELLO (1686-1739): Psalm XX -- the opening piece of this instrument's second dedicatory recital in 1963

JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH (1685-1750): Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565 -- included in both the initial organ dedicatory recital in 1928, and on the second recital in 1963

GUSTAV HOLST (1874-1934), transcr. by Henry G. Lay: Chaconne from First Suite for Military Band, Op. 28, No. 1

ELFRIDA ANDREÉ (1841-1929): Organ Symphony No. 1 in B minor

GUNNAR IDENSTAM (b. 1961): Menuet nordique from Cathedral Music

JAN PIETERSZOON SWEELINCK (1562-1621): Variations on Mein junges Leben hat ein End (My young life is ending)

JOHANNES MATTHIAS MICHEL (b. 1962): Swing Five on Erhalt uns, Herr (Keep Us, Lord)

JOSEPH BONNET (1884-1944): Variations de Concert, Op. 1
