Due to ongoing COVID concerns, my 23rd annual Super Bowl Sunday concert will be presented online only, as it was last year. The good news in that fact is that anyone can attend, from the comfort of the location of your choice! It was recorded at Community of Christ International Headquarters, and features all three organ consoles and 12,019 pipes there.

This year's concert title, "Memories and Mutations," is inspired by the virus which is causing us to treasure memories of people and moments in our lives, and also causing us to adapt and "mutate" our behaviors just as the virus itself mutates. You'll hear musical remembrances of times past and adaptations for times to come, pieces composed to remember friends and colleagues, works exploring mutating motifs, a world premiere of a brand-new piece, and a duet played entirely by the feet!

Both of the amazing pipe organs at Community of Christ will be featured. For information on these instruments, visit https://www.cofchrist.org/visit-auditorium-organ.

Planned repertoire includes:

PAUL AYRES (b. 1970): Toccatina on Here Comes the Sun (based on the song by George Harrison)

JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH (1685-1750): Passacaglia, BWV 582

MAURICE DURUFLÉ (1902-1986): Prelude and Fugue on the name ALAIN

BENJAMIN CORNELIUS-BATES (b. 1978): Fantasia on "I Wonder...": in memoriam Lydia Agnew Speller (1954-2021). This is a new piece commissioned by organ-builder John Speller in memory of his wife, Lydia, who passed away in 2021. This performance will be its world premier.

PAUL AYRES: Aria, Intermezzo, and Toccata from Suite for Eric

DENIS BÉDARD (b. 1950): Cat Duet Suite

HEALEY WILLAN (1880-1968): Introduction, Passacaglia, and Fugue
