COPLAND Fanfare for the Common Man HAILSTORK Amazing Grace R. STRAUSS Wind Serenade CARLOS SIMON The Warmth from Other Suns STRAVINSKY Suite from Pulcinella

From the KCS website: "We’re thrilled to welcome audiences back to Helzberg Hall with this richly diverse program. Aaron Copland’s beloved Fanfare for the Common Man is paired with Adolphus Hailstork’s Fanfare on Amazing Grace, both paying tribute to the indomitable spirit of people who have held things together during trying times, past and present. Then bask in the opulent sonorities of Richard Strauss’ youthful Wind Serenade. The talented composer Carlos Simon has written a new work, The Warmth from Other Suns, and you’ll get to hear the world premiere of the string orchestra version of his music chronicling the Great Migration of African-Americans leaving the rural South. The concert finishes with the Suite from Pulcinella, Stravinsky’s discovery of the past transmuted into the present with intimations for the future. Now is the perfect time…for some live music!

Current Classical Series subscribers may reserve tickets for this event by calling the Box Office at 816-471-0400, Mon-Fri 10am - 5pm."

I am pleased to perform at the Julia Irene Kauffman Casavant pipe organ for the Hailstork Fanfare.
