[description from the KCSymphony website] Premieres Sunday, March 14 at 5:00 p.m. on MySymphonySeat.org

VIVALDI Concerto for Two Oboes in D Minor
Kristina Fulton, Shirley Bush Helzberg Chair, and Alison Chung, oboes TCHAIKOVSKY/DREW Souvenir de Florence

Composers love the plaintive and reedy sound of the oboe and you will too, after hearing Principal Oboist Kristina Fulton and Associate Principal Oboist Alison Chung perform Vivaldi’s Concerto in D Minor for Two Oboes. The rich sonorities and sheer athleticism of the piece will delight and thrill you. Italy has inspired so much beautiful music, and Tchaikovsky’s remembrance of that vibrant locale is embodied in his Souvenir de Florence. Trademark Tchaikovsky melodies convey a sense of refinement, yearning, and passion. Salute, tutti!
