This, the second solo recording at the Julia Irene Kauffman pipe organ at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, is a disc of transcriptions for organ of works originally written for orchestra or band. The art of organ transcription, developed along with refinements and advancements in organ-building since the 19th century, allows new insights into favorite composers' works. The artists at Reference Recordings have captured the subtleties of tone color and dynamic range that are hallmarks of this fabulous concert-hall instrument built by Casavant Frères in 2011.
